The MLB action is heating up tonight as the schedule delivers us some primetime pitching matchups. One of those matchups will take place out in San Francisco in a game that features two of the premier starters in all of baseball. This is great news for daily fantasy owners as they look to capitalize on them at AT&T Ballpark.
Those two starters are Madison Bumgarner for the San Francisco Giants while Jacob deGrom will take the hill for the New York Mets. Each of these starters are coming off solid fantasy performances in their last outings providing us all a reason to be excited to see a top pitching performance tonight.
Meanwhile at the plate we suggest turning a lot of your attention to the Houston Astros/Baltimore Orioles contest as well as the Miami Marlins/Cincinnati Reds contest if you are looking for offense. These two contests take place in two of the stadiums to hit in all of Major League Baseball.
Here is our MLB options we like tonight in Daily Fantasy Baseball lineups.
MLB Daily Fantasy 411 for Thursday August 18th, 2016
Top Option – Madison Bumgarner, San Francisco Giants: For us the top option on the mound tonight is the Giants ace as he will look to slow down the New York Mets offense. Earlier this season Bumgarner pitched six strong innings against the Mets striking out seven in route to a 51 point performance.
Mid Tier Option – Kevin Gausman, Baltimore Orioles: Now we love the expensive option tonight but that could limit many of us at the plate. This opens up the door for a starter such as Gausman who has turned in at least 30 fantasy points in seven of his last ten starts would be a better option for a tournament style format.
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Paul Clemens
Matt Wieters, Baltimore Orioles: Prior to the rain shorten game last night for the Orioles, Wieters had been swinging a hot back picking up hits in four straight contest while posting double digit fantasy numbers on three of those nights. On the year, Wieters is five for 14 against the Houston Astros with one double.
Back Up Option: Welington Castillo
Fantasy Sleeper: Tucker Barnhart
Freddi Freeman, Atlanta Braves: Freeman might be the hottest hitting first baseman in all of baseball over the past few weeks. The Braves first baseman is hitting .579 over his last seven games with five home runs and ten runs driven in. Tonight he will look to continue that success against the Washington Nationals.
Brian Dozier, Minnesota Twins: Looking at the pitching matchups tonight as well as success rate against those starters landed us with the Twins second baseman. In 11 career at bats against Dillion Gee, Dozier has four hits with two of those hits going for home runs.
Back Up Option: Jonathan Schoop
Fantasy Sleeper: Brandon Phillips
Yunel Escobar, Los Angeles Angels: The Angels third baseman is coming off an impressive 5 for 5 night and will look to continue that success against Hisashi Iwakuma of the Seattle Mariners. In his Career, Escobar has picked up six hits off of the Mariners starter while posting an .500 on base percentage.
Carlos Correa, Houston Astros: Look for the Astros short stop to put together a big game tonight at one of the top hitter ballparks in all of baseball. Along with that, Correa has posted at least double digit fantasy performances in six of his last eight ball games.
Back Up Option: Francisco Lindor
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Dansby Swanson
Nelson Cruz, Seattle Mariners: Looking for hitters with a past track record of success against starting pitchers tonight landed us with Cruz. The Mariners outfielder is six for 17 lifetime off of Matt Shoemaker with one of those hits going for a home run. Shoemaker has struggled of late as well giving up at least five earned runs in two of his last four starts.
Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals: After falling into a little slump, Harper has broken out of it of late for his fantasy owners. That includes over the past week where the Nationals outfielder posted fantasy games of 18.9, 24.5 and 31.4 giving us all some hope the reigning NL MVP is getting back on top of his game.
Joc Pederson, Los Angeles Dodgers: Sticking with hot bats landed us with the Dodgers outfielder. Entering tonights contest against the Philadelphia Phillies, Pederson is on a five game stretch posting at least 12 fantasy points as well as seven of his last eight games.
