The big test for any daily fantasy baseball owner is finding the right information to build a winning lineup. That is where we come in as we look at the matchups, weather conditions as well as where each game is being played to help us put together our list of top options around the game to build your lineup from.
Now as we start to look at Thursday Nights lineup of games we first started by taking a look at any type of weather situations that may arise. This lead us to two games that rain could play a factor into the first is the Baltimore Orioles at Washington Nationals game (35% chance rain @ 7pm) and the second game is the New York Mets at St. Louis Cardinals contest (55% chance of rain at 9pm rising to 65% as the night moves on).
The second piece of information we looked into before building our list is which contests are taking place in the best hitters ball parks and which are not. This landed us with a few stadiums that we like including the Miller Park (Pittsburgh Pirates VS Milwuakee Brewers) and the other one is Chase Field (Atlanta Braves VS Arizona Diamondbacks).
After spending time looking a ton of information for August 25th, here is the MLB options we like as option for our daily fantasy baseball lineup.
MLB Daily Fantasy 411 for Thursday August 25th, 2016
Top Option –J.A. Happ, Toronto Blue Jays: Now Happ might not be the top fantasy option on the mound on Thursday Night but we like his matchup a little better as Max Scherzer will face off against a red hot Baltimore Orioles lineup while Cole Hamels makes the start against a first place Cleveland Indians team. Along with the matchup situation Happ has been great this year for his fantasy owners while posting 17 wins.
Fantasy Sleeper Option – Edinson Volquez
Matt Wieters, Baltimore Orioles: We are going to continue to ride the Orioles lineup even though the Nationals will have one of their top arms on the mound. On Thursday Night we like our chances with Wieters who has picked up four hits over his last two games with two doubles, one home run to go along with six runs batted in.
Back Up Option: Jonathan Lucroy
Fantasy Sleeper: Manny Pina or Jose Lobaton
Josh Bell, Pittsburgh Pirates: This might not be the name you were thinking would pop up as one of our top options at first base. That being said, Bell has been very productive in a limited role this season picking up seven hits in 15 at bats with one of those hits going for a home run. According to Rotogrinders Ball Park Factors Miller Park sits at 1.55 for left hander hitters for home runs with one being average. Along with that lefties are hitting above average in singles, doubles and slugging.
Back Up Options: Chris Davis and Edwin Encarnacion
Daniel Murphy, Washington Nationals: While the weather could play a factor into the start of this ball game, we could not pass up Murphy as he will look to take advantage of a struggling Ubaldo Jimenez. The Orioles starter has struggled over his last few outings allowing five earned runs over his last five innings of work.
Back Up Option: Jace Peterson
Adrian Beltre, Texas Rangers: The numbers all point to the Rangers third baseman on Thursday Night. The first of those numbers is the fact that he has hit Josh Tomlin well in a limited role picking up four hits including one home run in ten career at bats. The second key stat is the one that features Tomlin leading all of Major League Baseball with 32 home runs allowed this season.
Back Up Options: Jake Lamb and David Freese
Trea Turner, Washington Nationals: This was an easy option for us tonight as Turner has been red hot picking up eight hits over his last nine at bats against the Orioles including a double. Along with those numbers Turner was tossed out trying to steal after a few of those hits in this series.
Back Up Option: Troy Tulowitzki
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Jordy Mercer and J.J. Hardy
Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles: We are not shying away from the Orioles on Thursday Night even with Scherzer on the mound. This includes using Jones who has been red hot in his career against the Nationals starter picking up 11 hit in 22 at bats with three of those hits going for home runs.
Michael Saunders, Toronto Blue Jays: Saunders and Melvin Upton Jr are also interesting options against the Los Angeles Angels who will have Jered Weaver on the mound. Weaver has struggled at times keeping the ball in the ball park as he enters Thursday ranked third in all of baseball with 30 home runs allowed.
Back Up Options: Carlos Beltran, Gregory Polanco and Melky Cabrera
Fantasy Sleeper Options: Ezequiel Carrera
